We tailor project messaging to be simple, relevant, and intentional, helping to garner support and limit misunderstandings.

How it started

In 2020, founder, Leigh-Ann Charles found herself facing a daunting challenge. A family member had been diagnosed with a serious, rare health condition, and despite having a Master’s in Public Health, she struggled to grasp the dense, jargon-filled research related to the diagnosis. The specialized language and complex concepts presented in the literature made it difficult for her, and more so for her family, to fully understand the condition and the treatment options. This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply concerning. It highlighted an overarching problem: access to information intended to help us make informed decisions is not enough if it is inaccessible or incomprehensible. For information to be truly accessible, it must be relevant and easily understood across diverse audiences.

Driven by her passion for Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), Leigh-Ann recognized that this issue wasn’t isolated to public health research alone. The barriers to comprehension she encountered in the health research mirrored those in other industries that involve community engagement, such as infrastructure planning, transportation and housing. Projects in these fields, like health research, aim to inform the public of their benefits but sometimes fall short due to the technical nature of the information shared.

This is where researchSHARE was created, to bridge the communication gap, not just in healthcare but across multiple sectors that impact the communities’ lived experience. These challenges in public outreach often stem from misunderstandings due to technical dissemination, which can hinder project buy-in. By simplifying the information and aligning it with the challenges impacted communities face, we not only improve project understanding but also demonstrate relevance and foster community autonomy in making informed decisions about projects that affect their livelihoods. It also places government agencies and projects teams in a position to be stewards in their community, supporting sustainable solutions where all benefit.

Our philosophy

We aim to enhance communication strategies so that project information is simplified for diverse audiences, resonates with impacted communities, and is easily understood by those involved.

Our objective is to empower communities, enhance transparency, and foster trust between the public and the entities that serve them. By enhancing your messaging, we help you become a valued community partner and cultivate support for your project initiatives.
